By this time, we are sure that you have heard all about the negative impacts that Covid-19 and its consequent lockdowns and quarantines will have on the economy We urge you not to worry too much and encourage you to focus on maintaining a healthy mind and body.
While we can’t say when things will be back to normal again, we can give you some workout tips that will keep your mind and body active and reduce stress during these difficult times.
What Happens to Your Body if You Lie Around All The Time?
With companies giving everyone a work-from-home arrangement people are developing a very sedentary lifestyle. This kind of an inactive living, while might sound good on a weekend between workweeks, is probably the worst thing you could subject yourself to.
When you lie in bed all the time or live a minimum movement lifestyle for a long time, it starts taking a toll on not only your physical health but mental health too.
Physically, your body slows down the production of testosterone and adrenaline, which can lead you to feel low or less energetic all the time, causing you to lie down more often and sending you into a vicious cycle thereafter. If after leading a hectic lifestyle, you suddenly don’t move for weeks, your heart starts pumping fewer bones through the body, which can have negative effects on your brain function and can make your bones weaker by the day.
Once less blood flows into your brain, you can also experience uncomfortable mental states where you feel low on energy all the time and don’t feel like doing anything at all!
What Can You Do?
In times when staying away from people and putting yourself into self-quarantine is the best thing you can do for yourself as well as others, you cannot possibly hope to go to the gym or public parks to get your juices going.
That is why we have some quarantine exercises for you to follow at least once or twice a day (well, especially now when you don’t have the excuse of being too busy with work!). This routine will not only help you get active right there at your home, but it will also keep you in shape until your workout buddies can spot you again.
Crunches are a great way to work out your upper abdomen and keep that belly fat from going haywire during your quarantine. Just lie down on your back and bend your knees up. Put your hands behind your head and raise your upper body to touch your head with your knees. If you can’t do full-body crunches at first, start with half body crunches.
